Wow. If I was 10 years younger, I'd pick them up. I've got the right room for them, but don't have the energy anymore for dealing with speakers of this size!

I received a reply. In short, the guy was trying to have an auction via CL. I thanked him for his dishonesty and passed on the deal.

Yep. I'd be listening to them. Foam might be the biggest part of it, and that's nothing. I'd give a thousand.

The annoying thing was that he was trying to get me to bid against someone else who wanted them. If he wanted more $$, he should have asked for more $$ from the get go.

Agree.

Unlike a legitimate auction, you have no idea what the other bidder(s) are offering, or even if they exist.

I agree too though wouldn't let it be a problem. I'd offer what ever they are worth to me and let that be that. I don't care how much he makes selling them, only care about what they are worth to me. Those would be nice to have and given all drivers work, bass needing foam, I'd offer a thousand with the assurance they are as represented.

They have a sort of a kabuki look to me. How on earth do they coordinate all of those drivers?

That is an observation and a good question. Would have to carefully engineered, or not. A tell might be quality of cabinet construction.

I've seen VMPS speakers in person before, and they seemed well made and heavy.

Kabuki is not a word you should use. These were well reviewed.

They look rather serious.

Alas, I have gone the route of "too big for the house" and I really think most folk seriously underestimate just how large an arena one would need for these to flex.

My XRT20's and my Ohm Walsh 300 both require about twice as much room as I'm currently giving them.

Don't be like me.

For the life of me, I simply do not understand why those who desire to purchase something which is owned by another feel like they should dictate the terms of its sale. He should have . . . Please. He's doing exactly what he feels will yield the greatest return, which is exactly what any of us would do. Don't like the terms? Then, bow out gracefully.
